Lab to Lakes (Lake Fremont)
Lab to Lakes is an initiative developed by the Minnesota Aquatic Invasive Species Research Center (MAISRC) which aims to tackle the ecological threat posed by common carp to freshwater lakes by directly bringing research-based carp control plans to a lake-scale setting. In 2024, Sherburne SWCD and Lake Fremont were selected for this program and a long-term (fall 2024 - spring 2028) management plan was developed. Sherburne SWCD will manage the project, with consultant Carp Solutions conducting carp removal and tracking operations, and the Lake Fremont Improvement Association and City of Zimmerman provided support.
